The Electrician program at Central Arizona College provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the high-demand electrical field. This comprehensive program typically takes one to two years to complete, depending on the chosen path (certificate or associate degree), and combines classroom instruction with extensive hands-on training. Students learn the fundamentals of electrical theory, blueprint reading, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and safety regulations. They gain practical experience in residential, commercial, and industrial wiring techniques, using industry-standard tools and equipment in well-equipped labs. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions as electrician apprentices, maintenance electricians, or electrical technicians. The program’s emphasis on safety practices and industry-recognized certifications, such as OSHA 10-hour, enhances graduates’ employability and prepares them to take the Journeyman Electrician exam. Upon completion, graduates are well-prepared to enter the workforce and contribute to the growing electrical industry. This program could also set up students to open their own electrical contracting business.
